Walk it out

Solo meditation has never really worked for me. While in a studio with a teacher, Iā€™m all up in your zen - but at home I just feel uneasy. Thankfully I am a dog mom and have a reason to leave the house at least 3 times a day (but more like 5). I have found a new appreciation in simply taking a walk.

Most days I am listening to a podcast (see my recommendations here), Lofi music or catching up with someone who I enjoy speaking to (important requirement of me calling someone). Fresh air, laughs, good music and a wagging tail while walking have proven to lift my spirits significantly.

You would be surprised how something so simple and free makes a difference in your day. Yes these walks help me close my activity rings, but they really offer me time to think through whats happening and often feel like a moving meditation. Maybe start at 10 mins, pick your comfiest sneakers, take a few deep breaths and just walk. Think about one thing that went well (even if that is just brushing your teeth or getting dressed) it went right because you did it. This time can also be tacked on to another activity when you are already wearing your outside clothes.

Lastly, you can take this hack anywhere. Especially to a judgmental relatives house, who you have to spend 8-12 hours with because they are the holiday host this year.
