Before You Book
There are a variety of methods for preparing to travel domestically or internationally. Some people rely on electronics or other distractions to keep their nerves at bay and others (like me) choose to prepare for everything that can make the process less painful. If you are thinking about traveling internationally more than two times in the upcoming year, I would strongly recommend signing up for Global Entry with TSA. Global entry saves you from that terrible customs line when you return to the USA, includes PreCheck and makes the security experience less stressful. The process only requires you to scan your face at a kiosk and show your Global Entry card to the customs officer. This process will save you at least an hour in that dreadful customs line.
If you are not fond of the international waters and prefer to stay stateside, Homeland Security has you covered with TSA Pre-check. Pre-Check is included with Global Entry so you will still get all of the pre-check benefits. To take a deeper dive into these programs click the links below.
*There is a cost for these programs PreCheck is $85 and Global Entry is $100.
