One Step at a Time

I have always imagined walking with my dog being this wonderful past time, boy was I wrong. It took us many months to figure out how to safely go for a walk without the stress of him getting scared, constantly pulling, burning his paws and literally everything that could go wrong on a walk. Walking has been quite a struggle for Gus and even today we still have tough moments on walks. Gus has taught me to be patient and take this hurdle in our journey - one step at a time - with a few helpful finds.

I have created a list of things that I take on EVERY SINGLE WALK, we will not leave the house without these items.

  • Wild one treat pouch

  • Air horn

  • Pet safe repellent (this is great for deterring other animals that are not leashed)

  • Treats! These are great for motivation and to play distraction games with Gus when other dogs are coming our way. Usually this consists of cheese and other treats that I can throw at a loose dog to distract them.

  • Poop bags (we always pick up after our pups)
