What’s That Smell?

When my Caribbean relatives heard I got a dog, the first question everyone asked is, “Where is it going to sleep?” to which I reply “In his room!” I work very hard to make sure my house does not smell like a dog lives here. It’s something that I am very conscious of, which means making sure my dog doesn’t stink, which in turn means I have to give him a bath. *Insert horror music because Gus is water averse. He despises any kind of liquid on his coat and dry shampoo doesn’t work on him.

I now have a dog washing helper who will hold bbq chicken breast as a distraction while I wash him as fast as possible. I strap on these dog washing gloves and get to work as fast as possible. The process starts by putting the shampoo on him, then wetting him down and getting down to business (as fast as possible). I love my dog washing gloves because they really allow me to get the dirt and buildup out of his coat and I have also used them to brush him weekly. At the end after an air dry he is clean and ready for a nap and I am ready to keep searching the internet for the least painful way to do this next time.

I’m sure people have all kinds of tricks to washing their dogs ( please share if you have a better recommendation that is cheaper than a groomer) but this is the best method I have found.
