Harlem Coffee Co.

Harlem Coffee Co. is my new favorite coffee find. They are a mobile coffee service and I found them at Sauvage Wine Bar on the corner of McDowell & 3rd Ave (downtown Phoenix) having a Sunday pop-up. Their coffee the line was almost down the street and I knew I needed to try it out for the blog. Harlem Coffee Co describes their business:
As a mobile service, we immerse ourselves amidst the people. Together, we value life stories, creativity, and diversity. Inclusion is our superpower. The soul of Harlem is to create a culture of community where everyone belongs; providing an experience that unites others from different walks of life over excellent coffee served with intention.

I would agree with everything in that statement. While they are a small team run by 2 or 3 people their reach is amazing, their customers are diverse, and though there is seating I didn’t see anyone on a laptop. People were actually talking to each other!

After trying a few hot and iced drinks on their menu, I started to understand that aside from serving tasty drinks they also offered a relaxing and inviting Sunday vibe. They had a DJ playing music, everyone was very friendly and I noticed that the owners often stopped to talk with people when they had a moment. No matter how long the line was, it never felt rushed and the hot drinks even had some cute latte art, it was welcoming. Sometimes we make things like a morning coffee or beverage a huge production. Harlem Coffee seems like they want you to stop by, stay a while, chat with a friend or make a new one and I think that is something we are missing in 2024.

Harlem Coffee Co now has a residency at Sauvage Wine bar and will be there every Sunday starting this Sunday May 5th from 8AM - 12PM. I am elated to see a small business with such clear intentions grow to have a weekly presence.
